At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

I am giving up sugar for the whole of November in aid of The Alzheimer's Society. It's not going to be easy, you do not get a voluptuous figure like mine by avoiding sugar but I am prepared to do in nonetheless.

When I was 18 I lost my beloved Grandad who had been suffering from Alzheimers for a couple of years. It was heartbreaking watching this clever, funny man deteriorate and his death left a massive hole in all our lives. Mine especially as he had been my father figure as I grew up. It was Grandad who taught me how to ride a bike, who instilled in me a love of crosswords and who took me walking with him.

I would like to raise some money in his memory to help fund research and support for people with Alzheimers. If you can spare anything I would be incredibly grateful.

Alzheimer’s Society is transforming the landscape of dementia forever.Until the day we find a cure, we will create a society where those affected by dementia are supported and accepted, able to live in their community without fear or prejudice.
