Story
On 29th June 2010 this year I will embark on a golf marathon, playing continuously around Millport Golf Club from sunrise to sundown, to raise funds for the Ayrshire Hospice, in memory of my dad, Gordon Stewart, who passed away of cancer on 25.12.2008.

Millport was where my fathers side of the family were based when they were younger and they spent many holidays on the island. My grandparents retired there and it become a frequent holiday destination for my family. My dad was club champion 6 times and my uncle was club champion 7 times and an honorary life member. My dad was also a vascular surgeon at both Ayr and Crosshouse hospitals and later in his career obtained the position of Medical Director of Ayrshire and Arran health board.
The Ayrshire Hospice is a very worthwhile charity that looked after my dad during a very hard time for both myself and my family. They provide totally free care for people with cancer and other life limiting illnesses and such rely entirely on donations. Although the health board contribute to the costs they have to raise over £3.8m annually. Please see the website for more information.
The plan for the fundraising day is that I play from sunrise to sundown which will be about 4.30am - 10pm. This will involve walking over 25km and hitting over 400 shots. I have no idea of how many rounds I can play but I'm going to try for at least 5. I will also be inviting many of mine and my dad's friends to join me for a round during the day. The challenge will take place on 29.06.2010.
This event is officially supported by the Ayrshire Hospice and Millport Golf Club. Any contribution you can give, no matter how big or small, is greatly appreciated. The Ayrshire Hospice is very grateful for your support.
