Story

Our Volunteering projects for our visit

·         Provision of Laptops £400 each – Provide a basic IT leaning capability for the school

·         Build a new home £350 - See the picture to the left

·         Solar Power £2200 - to power the laptops in a free and sustainable way

·         EcoSan Toilets £1500 – New complete waste recycling (humanure) with excellent sanitation

Basic human needs – you could help save lives

·         Medical Emergency Fund (£10-100 supports essential medication such as Malaria, Typhoid, TB and Cholera) – even the most basic life saving healthcare is not free and £10 can literally save a life

·         Feed a Family for 2 months £48 – Some families can’t earn an income so rely on temporary food assistance

·         Sponsor a Child for 1 month £19 – buys meals, education, uniform, learning materials

·         Malaria Nets for a family £9 – buys 3 treated quality mosquito bed nets

We're an intrepid, self-funded group of 6 ladies and 3 men from Cisco who have joined forces determined to bring a glimmer of hope and some smiles to a poverty stricken community deep in western Kenya.

Will the orphanage ever be the same? We hope not, we're looking forward to providing new buildings, developing new skills for the community and learning ourselves along the way. Will we ever be the same, we doubt it very much, but we hope it it will enrich us and make us better people, colleagues friends and family members ;-)

Unlike a number of charities Hope and Kindness’s runnings costs are less than 1pence in the £ so you can be assured any donation make will go towards the capabilities we plan on delivering during our visit
