Story
Hi everyone
My name is Alex Hilton and I’m 23 years old, from Jersey in the
Channel Islands, and I'm aiming to cycle round the five main Channel Islands in 24 hours.
It came to me the week before Christmas that I wanted to do a charity event this year. However I didn’t want to do a small one, I wanted to do a big one for two charities close to my heart. I thought what could I do that people will remember and want to be a part of? After being keen on personal fitness last year due to losing over three stone last year I wanted it to be something active and then I thought maybe I can do a cycle challenge around the island. I then thought how can I make it a bigger and more challenging event and then I thought how about a cycle round all the main Channel Islands but in 24 hours.
I thought how I could make this idea become a reality so I thought I could get Wetwheels Jersey involved by helping me get from island to island in return for half the money I raise as well as the other half going to the JSAD ( Jersey Sport Association for the Disabled ) another charity which means a lot to me.
I got involved with JSAD as an islander who has Aspergers Syndrome. I was encouraged to join their football team and have never looked back and after going to the annual JSAD awards evening I really wanted to give something back to a charity who really makes a difference to others lives. I heard of Wetwheels from a friend and how they offer days out for islanders with disabilities the chance to go out to sea for a day and see the island and further afield. I thought it was such a great cause I wanted to give something back to them.
So if you fancy showing your support to two of Jerseys well respected charities that make a real difference to disabled islanders lives please donate to this event.
