Story
I will be running/walking/swimming/cycling 80 miles in August for the Ectopic Pregnancy Trust!
On 11th September 2019, I had surgery to remove an ectopic pregnancy along with my left fallopian tube. I wasn't really too educated on what an ectopic pregnancy was and had only briefly been told about it as a risk of having the coil put in, however I never would have thought something like that would happen to me.
Since my surgery, I have created my @ectopicawareness instagram page which has over 1000 amazing people who are learning about EP's, supporting those who have been diagnosed, have experienced or are currently experiencing an ectopic pregnancy. I have been able to raise awareness by sharing not only my own, but other people's experiences which has truly been amazing. Without the support from the wonderful community on instagram and the help of the Ectopic Pregnancy Trust, I have been able to digest and understand what I have been through and used this to help others and raise awareness.
As it is coming up to the 1 year anniversary, I would like to give back to this incredible charity who have not only supported me, but so many other amazing women and their partners during such a difficult time. After coming out of surgery, I was provided with a booklet from EPT which told me all about the surgery I had had, what I might expect to feel like and how to move forward. I have also used the EPT resources and have got in contact with other young women who have gone through very similar experiences to what I did with having an EP on the contraceptive coil and without the EPT's page, I wouldn't have found that support.
Ideally I would have liked to have done something in September, however since I will be starting my teaching training, I don't think I will find the time! Any donation would be more than amazing, however even if you simply share this page to spread the word about ectopic pregnancies, you are still doing more than enough! Below I have listed how far the donations can go and what they can do to help people like they did with me:
- Just £2 a month can make all the difference to our charity
- £5 a month enables us provide ongoing support to women and their families
- £10 a month enables us to teach doctors about the emotional impact of losing a baby
- £5 provides seven people with leaflets that help them understand their treatment
- £15 enables us to operate our helpline for one hour
- £100 enables us to run our website for a week
Thank you so much in advance!
