My name is Ciara and 6 months ago, my Granny was diagnosed with colon cancer. She had surgery to remove the tumour and had 3 months of chemotherapy which made her very ill. She is now recovering and getting better every day. I am very proud of her as she was never sad and never complained, she was just determined to get better. She is an amazing person and I love her very much.

I am running the Hilversum Kids Run in April. It is 1.5km, and there are thousands of kids who run it. This year I wanted to raise some money for a cancer charity that helped my Granny. I have chosen the Maggie's Cancer Caring Centres which are places for people to go to for help support and advice about anything to do with cancer. Granny and Grandad went to Maggie's in Dundee, at Ninewells Hospital where Granny had all her treatment. 

Maggie's Centres are all self-funded and rely on donations to build and run the centres. You can find out more at www.maggiescentres.org.
