Story

Hi, thanks for visiting our page.

We are doing the Great North half marathn run on 16th September 2012, and I am hoping to complete in the London Marthon.

This is a brief to our story

My name is Ciara and my aim is to raise as much cash as I can for Tommys the baby charity, see link for more info http://www.tommys.org/

I live with my partner Phil, in High Peak Derbyshire, with our miracle Rainbow baby Siobhan, I owe it to medical science that she is here with us today, and I feel very blessed with having such a great consultant who also believed in medical science.

Siobhan is our 2nd daughter, as we lost our first baby very tragically to pprom Preterm Premature Rupture of Membranes and to Group B Strep.

Therefore we are both doing this race in memory of our first born daughter, Sinead whom was sadly stillborn.

The last two years has been a very hard journey, I was very naive when I got pregnant, thought if I got through the first 12weeks I be ok.

Little did I know that you can lose your waters before term, stupid I know now.

However, I have learnt through my journey that so much more can be done, but more research is needed.

I promised my daughter when leaving with her box that I would make a difference to maternity services.

So far I have failed.

I decided that I would challenge myself and raise money for Tommys the baby charity,

Why Tommys, they do a vast amount of reseacrh into preventing losses, and if I raise 60k, then I will have a say on a new project relating to preterm of the membranes / pprom which I am  very eager to raise.

Why it means so much,

Only others who have gone through this, knows how it feels living a maternity ward with a box rather than a baby. The sounds of the crying babies haunt me now, even with my new additional my beautiful amazing daughter Siobhan cannot replace my first born loss Sinead.

If I can make a difference to one family and prevent them losing a baby, them that will make my day, I have found a procedures in other countries that can repair the sac, and if I raise even more money and find a team of experts who knows what this project will lead too.

At the moment, I have not decided how I am going to do this, I have lots of ideas, like morning coffee mornings, auctions etc, but thought that this sponsor run would be a good start, if I can acheive to raising 1k for this race my next challenge will be the London Marathon and then I hope to raise so much. (Touch wood my lucky number will be drawn for this)

My dream is to acheive my goal of 60k within 2 years, I am now finding this very daunting, and I know that there will be raise eyebrows even from my better half who through out this journey has been my rock, its been tough but we manage to get through, but I hope to prove to him, and everyone and myself that I can do this.

Therefore it would mean the world to me, if you can sponsor me, donate as much as you can, and share this fundraising page with your friends, your family and your facebook and twitter friends.

Even if it is just a pound, it would all add up.

If you are wishing to do any fundraising with me, I can add you to the team and I have a few ideas for events.

Please help me to fulfil my dream.
