Welcome to the Kent Climbs Kilimanjaro 2022 campaign! These incredible students are taking on the challenge of a lifetime all whilst helping in the fight against meningitis and septicaemia.

Story

In 2021 I will be climbing Kilimanjaro. My climb is in aid of the Meningitis Research Foundation; a charity which aims to research and raise awareness of two serious diseases, Meningitis and Septicaemia.

This charity is very close to my heart, as my Mum lost both of her legs due to Meningitis and Septicaemia in 2017. At only 16 I was told that my Mum was going to die, but she surprised everyone and kept fighting.

Meningitis affects more than 5 million people globally a year -1 in 10 die as a result. 1 in 5 are left with life changing impairments such as brain deficits, hearing loss, blindness and amputations. Anyone can catch it. It can kill within hours.

Awareness needs to keep being spread for this awful disease, and the money I raise will help to do this and to also help The Meningitis Research Foundation with their goal of creating a world free of Meningitis and Septicaemia by 2030. I hope that soon, no family has to go through what my family did back in 2017.

Thank you all for your kind donations.
