Story
Thanks for joining me! I know you're busy so I won't take too much of your time.
I'm taking part in the British 10K London Run on July 14th. I'm not a champion runner but I've been training for a few months and hope to be able to hit the 10K mark without needing a lift from the broom wagon.
I'm running to help raise awareness of and reduce the stigma about suicide, specifically male suicide. Did you know that suicide is the single most common cause of death of men under the age of 35 in the UK? That it claims more lives than traffic accidents?
I'm here to ask you to please donate something, even the cost of a cup of coffee. You will help CALM continue to do great work, by:
* maintaining a website where young men can find help in an accesible manner
* keeping their free helpline going seven days a week, 5PM - midnight
* marketing the message to young men that being silent isn't being strong, that talking about stuff is better than silence, and by giving them the information they need to overcome their problems
* by campaigning to highlight this issue and encourage greater awareness of suicide in young men.
Have a look here if you'd like to see what CALM is all about: http://www.thecalmzone.net/
Thank you for reading, and look out for me in the orange vest on July 14th :)
