Belvedere College is working with the Jesuit Refugee Service which has traditionally delivered age-appropriate presents, which have been bought and donated, to children and teenagers living in Direct Provision.

Story

The Vision of Belvedere College is 'to form men for others' inspired by our College motto Per Vias Rectas, meaning By Just Ways. The College works hard to provide our students with as many opportunities as possible to create just ways to challenge injustice in society. This JRS Toy Appeal is one such way. As part of their action project for Advent in the run up to Christmas, and in collaboration with Jesuit Refugee Services (JRS) Ireland, students in first year (Elements 2021) are raising funds to buy toys and gifts for children living in direct provision in Ireland. The students are seeking sponsorship from families and friends to make donations through this Justgiving page to gather as much money as possible to give to JRS before Christmas 2021. JRS will then distribute the funds to direct provision centres across Ireland where they work, and the local management team in each centre will purchase toys and gifts for the specific children in their centre.
