This year, we stand behind farmers in Malawi like Esther who faces big challenges like climate change. In her country pigeon peas are an important crop because they are drought resistant, fairly easy to grow and importantly don’t need fertiliser. Much of the crop is exported which earns the farmer important income but Esther also uses it as an important ingredient when she bakes bread and nutritious snacks for her family. Christian Aid has helped in the development of the pigeon pea sector but we can still do more to help more farmers like Esther work together at all stages from production to marketing.
In Cheadle Hulme we are distributing envelopes to every household and in addition to giving online, we have donation points at various locations where donors can leave envelopes. Please help if you can.
