Story
MS affects lots of people in many different ways, often its impact is unseen. It is hard to tell how much someone with MS is really suffering. There is no cure yet but the more we learn about it the more we can do.
Please help us to raise as much as possible for the MS Society. A lot of progress has been made understanding and treating MS but there is more to do. We can make a difference.
EX VICTRIX AQUILA is a major overseas expedition which will see 12 personnel from the British Armed Forces summit Tharpu Chuli (5,663m) and Singhu Chuli (6,501m) in the Annapurna Sanctuary Range of the Himalaya. The expedition is classed as a High Risk to Life activity and has been over a year in the planning.
The remote nature of the trip is designed to challenge all team personnel whilst they are in the high end of the 'comfort - stretch - panic' spectrum, during one of the coldest months in Nepal when the average temperature at summit altitude is expected to be around minus 20C.
The team will experience an arduous 18 days of ascent, all the while keeping vigil for signs of Acute Mountain Sickness and Pulmonary or Cerebral Oedema – both of which are fatal if not treated immediately.
We would like to raise as much money as possible for the MS Society – a very worthy cause which supports the thousands of people suffering from MS each year – a disease which as yet is incurable.
