Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On 18th September 2016, in memory of my grandma Betty, I am going to try and complete one of the toughest single day endurance challenges in the world - Ironman Wales 2016. An ironman is a triathlon which involves a 2.4 mile swim (in the sea), followed by a 112 mile bike and ending with a 26.2 mile run all within a 17 hour time limit. Simples...
I am fundraising for Alzheimer's Society as I have seen first hand both personally and professionally the cruel nature of this illness for which currently there is no cure. If I can go through one day of hell to raise some money to help improve the lives of the sufferers and their families then that will be a small price to pay and my best achievement from the day.
My grandma sadly passed away in 2007 having suffered with this cruel illness. For those reading this that knew her, you will know that she had the heart of a lion and kept her sense of humour and kindness to the very end. If I can find half of the courage she showed, ironman will be no problem!
Please, please give what you can.
Thank you.
