Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I joined Mosaic Clubhouse in 2018 as Chief Executive.  I can honestly say it’s the best job I’ve ever had.

Mosaic is a unique charity, at the heart of mental services in Lambeth.  We provide a work based community for over 400 people experiencing mental health challenges.  Everyday, Clubhouse members come in to work side by side with staff to help run the centre.

Everything we do, we do side by side - Matthew, one of  our members ran the virtual Marathon last year and did amazingly well, running 26.2 miles on a wet and cold day.

Working with us increases confidence and skills and helps members on their way to recovery.  The alternative for many, is staying at home with no structure or meaning to life. Without members being needed, wanted and expected, we just couldn’t function.  We couldn’t run the café, look after the gardens, organise our administration or help spread the word about courses and jobs without members' help.

Given the chance, any runner will talk about the positive impact of the sport on your mental health.  Running offers time away from the stresses and anxieties of daily life.  It is time for yourself, time to
think through and make sense of everything that’s going on.  I see it not only as a way improve my physical health, but a time of peace and freedom.

I seriously got into running back in 2014.  My mental health was suffering through pressures at work and I’m convinced that lacing up my running shoes and getting out on the road stopped things getting far worse.   Moving on to 2020, and the Covid pandemic became another time of huge stress, with constant worries about the welfare of Mosaic members and the morale of staff in incredibly difficult times.  Once again running came to my rescue.

Running London Marathon is the ultimate privilege for me.  Every day as Chief Executive, I am inspired by our incredible members and the ways they support each other to recover from mental ill health. They have been my focus during the months of hard training.   It will be such an honour to wear the Mosaic Clubhouse vest on 3rd October and represent this amazing charity at London Marathon.

At Mosaic, we are always looking to do more and help more people;
like expanding our innovative Young Adults programme and providing more health and wellbeing activities for our members.  There is never enough money to everything we would like to do.

All I need to do is run 26.2 miles through London 3rd Ocotber.

All you need to do is spare a few quid for this fantastic cause which is so close to my heart. Please give what you can.

On behalf of all our members, thank you for helping
