We pioneer life-saving cancer research to help us beat cancer

Story

The incidence of malignant melanoma, which often targets young people, is rising faster than that of any other cancer in the United Kingdom. Although much progress has been made in developing new surgical techniques and drugs to fight melanoma, in many patients it can still be a devastatingly aggressive disease.

Exeter Medical, now part of Ramsay Health Care, is home to dermatologists and plastic surgeons who specialise in looking after patients with skin cancers, including melanoma. Last year Exeter Medical hosted a mole-check event to raise money for Cancer Research UK and raised £2,340.00. We will be repeating this event on Saturday 1st June 2019.

Later in June I will be joining seven intrepid explorers,

Matt Bray, Ian Beresford, Fred Orchard, Dave Williams, Conor Campbell, Glen Allison, and Graeme Morrison,

on a cycle tour of British battlefield sites in Belgium and Holland. Last year we visited WW1 and WW2 battlefields in France, and raised over £2,000 for Combat Stress. This year we are hoping to repeat that achievement in support of Cancer Research UK.

I will also be taking part in the Prudential Ride London-Surrey 2019 cycling sportive to add my own support to the valuable research funded by Cancer Research UK in the battle against melanoma skin cancer.
