Story
While I appreciate times are hard at the moment, we wanted to do something worthwhile for charity this year and something that was a real challenge. Action Medical Research are not a single issue charity but rather work towards research in many different illnesses and diseases, including MS, a cause close to my own family. The challenge will be exactly that and any donations are gratefully received.
Action Medical Research are the leading UK charity funding vital research to help defeat the diseases that devastate the lives of sick and disabled babies, children and young people. Action have been funding medical breakthroughs for 70 years now and have helped to beat polio, fight meningitis, prevent stillbirths and develop ultrasound scanning in pregnancy. By supporting us, you are helping to find ways to reduce premature birth, to support children facing a lifetime of challenges caused by disabilities, and to develop cutting-edge therapies for rare and incurable diseases. Teams of two or four are taking part in this extremely tough dawn to dusk event where they will cycle 40 miles cycle route with 1015m of ascent around Skiddaw's challenging terrain, navigate a 2-mile canoe course on Derwentwater, and finally summit the Skiddaw itself, one of the Lake District's most iconic peaks with an altitude of 887m, on a 11 mile round trip to raise money for this incredible cause.
