Thanks for taking the time to visit my page
As some of you are aware I was due to run the Sunderland Marathon on the 6 May without asking for sponsorship as I need to increase my fitness levels. As my training has not gone well, actually it has got worse to nonexistent, as the marathon draws ever closer. As a result I was going to pull out of the marathon.
Due to recent events I have decided that now I want to run this marathon and raise money for Dorothy House Hospice Care who supported my grandfather, Colin Curtis (Bampi), in the final stages of his life.
Bampi who sadly passed away on Sunday 1 April was a great man, loved by his children and grandchildren alike. He was a very generous man who always has time for other people putting their needs in front of his own. I am sad to say that I have not spent as much time with Bampi has I would have liked to over the last few years, due to the 600 mile return journey. When I look back this is my biggest regret. Not many people know this, but Bampi is one of the reasons why I am so driven to achieve my goals. When I went to see him I always wanted to have bettered myself and have a positive message to share with him. Due to this drive that he has given me I don’t think I would have been doing what I am now without him. For this I just want to say thank you and I am sorry I was not able to spend more time with you.
I know this is not much but I would like to do what I can to say thank you for the support he has given me over the years. Please dig deep and help Dorothy House. I have set a target of £250 as a starting point as there are only 4 and a half weeks to go until the marathon, but I am hoping to smash this target.
