Zurich Marathon · 11 April 2010
Thank you very much to all of my sponsors!!!!
The weather in Zurich on 11th April was perfect for running - sunny and cool. The course was very interesting, with great views of the city, and across the lake. The race went well. I did start to tire towards the end, and had to settle for a slower time than for which I had hoped (4hrs 4mins 37 secs), but enjoyed every step.
Thank you very much to all who sponsored me. With the additional Gift Aid money, over £1,100 was raised for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.
Cystic Fibrosis is a complex disease requiring considerable specialist treatment. The Cystic Fibrosis Trust is the UK's only national charity dealing with all aspects of Cystic Fibrosis. The CF Trust invests in medical research to treat the symptoms of CF and to find an effective treatment by correcting the basic genetic defect. The CF Trust also provides information, advice and support to families affected by Cystic Fibrosis and aims to ensure that people with CF receive appropriate healthcare.
In the last fifteen years, the Trust has helped to set up and staff 41 special CF centres throughout the UK. The CF Trust also runs a peer review service for CF clinics and provides funding to train the top CF doctors of the future through consultant training at specialist CF centres. The CF Trust website explains things much better than I can - have a look: http://www.cftrust.org.uk/
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
The website is still able (and very willing) to accept donations should you wish to add to the total.
Thanks again everyone.
