Queen Eleanor Cycle Ride 2022 · 26 August 2022 to 29 August 2022 ·

The annual QECR will take place over the August Bank Holiday weekend to raise funds to support homeless and vulnerable people in central London. There are options designed to reflect cycling ability and to reflect the COVID guidelines in place.

Story

This will be my third Queen Eleanor Cycle Ride (QECR 2022) to raise money for the Connection, a Charity that helps rough sleepers in Westminster to a new life.

The Connection at St Martins works with people, not just for  them, as they recover from life on the streets and move on to meaningful futures and a place to call home. Underlying causes of rough sleeping are addressed as well as  practical help offered.

I will be one of about 30 riders who follow the route of Queen Eleanor's funeral cortege (just under 200 miles!) from Lincoln to  Westminster Abbey, visiting the towns through which the cortege passed (including Stamford) and viewing the remaining Eleanor Crosses erected in Queen Eleanor's memory between 1291 and 1295.

We will be well supported but will nevertheless  "sleep rough" on church floors on the way down to London!!

St Martin-in-the-Fields, have been on the frontline helping people in crisis for over one hundred years, and during the pandemic,  they supported over 1,100 people on their journey away from homelessness.

I thank you in advance for your generous support of such a worthy cause!

Wish me well to keep  the pedals turning up the hills....!

Chris
