Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On Friday 27th July to Sunday 29th July 2018 I am taking part in the UK Police Unity Tour and will be cycling 180 miles from London to the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire to raise money for Care of Police Survivors (COPS). COPS is a charity set up to aid and support the families of police officers who have been killed in the line of duty.
When an incident leads to such tragedy, there is unfortunately little support past the immediate aftermath due to a lack of resources. This is where COPS comes in.
In the last ten years, twenty officers of the Metropolitan Police alone have been killed whilst on duty. There are around 24,000 assaults on police officers every year. In December, two of my colleagues were hit by a car driven by a drunk driver, and are still receiving medical treatment. They are both lucky to be alive. On a daily basis, officers put themselves in harms way to protect the public.
Care of Police Survivors is a UK registered charity dedicated to helping the families of police officers who have died in the line of duty, rebuild their lives. It aims to ensure that survivors have all the help they need to cope with such a tragedy, and that they remain part of the police family.
I would be grateful if you would sponsor me to help the families of those who have paid the ultimate price.
