Moroccan Children's Trust - The Solidarity Swim for Street Children · 3 September 2011 ·
Thank you for visiting the page. On September 3rd I will go against all my inclinations and my better judgement, and jump in the murky waters of the Serpentine and try to swim a mile. As I haven't swum more than about ten yards since I was a teenager, this may prove challenging.
I'm happy to risk humiliation, however, as the cause is important: we're raising money to support the work of the street children centre in Taroudannt, Morocco. The social work team there provide vital support and assistance to children who face daily harrassment, victimisation and physical danger as they try to make a living on the street. In its first few months of work the project has made an enormous impact on the lives of these most vulnerable of children. With more support, it can become a truly sustainable and durable institution in the life of the town, and expand its work of rehabilitating children whom everyone else has forgotten, in Taroudannt and across the region.
So if you're not that interested in my swimming in the lake, please give some money to the street children anyway.
