Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
Having run the London Marathon (see picture) when I was 60 and 65, I regretted not running it again when I was 70. However, having had a pretty bad heart attack when I was 69, it did seem a stupid idea even by my standards! But I have now been attracted by the idea of running the Jane Tomlinson 10km. race round the walls of York on August 1st. This is a mere six and a quarter miles, so I think I should manage that, even at 73! I must admit that training for 6 miles seems just as difficult as training for 26 miles 8 years ago.
The charity that I want to raise money for is InteraKtive - a small Surrey based charity for autistic children. As some of you know, our youngest grandchild, 4 year old Oliver Kekwick is autistic. I have seen first hand how vital specialised help and encouragement is to young sufferers of autism and what a difference it makes. The work of this particular charity is truly remarkable. They are unusual in that the activities they organise are valuable not only to children with autism, but also to their parents and siblings as it gives the whole family the opportunity to enjoy outings - something that might be difficult for them to achieve on a day to day basis. And being a small charity, whatever amount I can raise will be of noticeable benefit to them,
I'm also pleased to report that Olly has made great progress in the last twelve months. (see picture 2)
So I do hope that you will be kind enough to sponsor me for InteraKtive through this website - I'm told it's very easy to do! If you would like to know how it went on August 1st, just send me an email to j.c.england@ntlworld.com and I'll let you know.
Many thanks
Christopher
