Story
Thank you for supporting my fundraising and donating to Macmillan Cancer Support
Why am I doing it?
The are many reasons, it’s for charity, to support family and friends who have be diagnosed with cancer, I like a challenge, enjoyable day out cycling with good friends, I like to cycle up hills (NOT) to name a few but also a little bit closer to my heart my father-in-Law sadly died of cancer last year on the 14/07/2020.
Roy was kind and supportive throughout the many years I knew him, a gentleman, he is missed by his family every day, so I decided I am going to do a charity ride for Macmillan Cancer Support in memory of Roy.
I grew up in Wales up to the age of 12 and moved to Nailsea in 1986. I have lots of happy memories spent with family in the valleys, when a friend mentioned about the DRAGON RIDE 2021, I jumped at the chance to join him and a couple of other close friends to cycle up some hills in the area I grew up around.
2020/2021 has been a strange for all of us, but it hasn't stop me and friends from getting out on the bikes and keeping our general fitness and mental fitness in good shape, please help me to raise some money for a good cause, every donation small or big will help support people going through the fight against cancer plus charities need our help with fundraising, so any donation is gratefully received and will help support families and love ones who are fighting Cancer.
Thank you for your support.
Chris
In Memory of Roy x
If you are still reading :-) here is some information about the ride I will be doing!
The ride isn't going to be easy as there are a few hills to contend with plus it’s a 158km 😳 with 2110 meters of climbing 🥵
Medio Fondo
Race
Director Difficulty rating: 8/10
Don’t let the name fool you, the “Medio” Fondo is still considerably tougher than most other sportive’s longest routes, coming in at 157km and 2111m of climbing. You’ll take on some of the most famous climbs the Dragon Ride has to offer and the sweeping scenery and quiet roads of the Brecon Beacons.
You will tackle the following major climbs:
- Sardis Hill (3/10)
- Glynneath Hill (6/10)
- Bwlch Bryn-Rhudd (5/10)
- Devils Elbow (8/10)
- Rhigos (6/10)
- The Bwlych (7/10)
Macmillan Cancer Support is here to help everyone with cancer live life as fully as they can, providing physical, financial and emotional support. So whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
