Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In October this year, I’m running the Chicago Marathon - one of the six Abbott World Marathon Majors, having ran a good for age qualifying time at The Manchester Marathon in 2021. I had no intention of running this for charity but purely running for a personal goal.
However, in May of this year my marathon running buddy, Cazzer's
life was turned upside down when he was shockingly diagnosed with mouth cancer. Me and Cazzer train and run together and ordinarily he would have been my training partner, but obviously this is no longer possible.
In view of this I have decided to run the marathon to raise vital funds for the incredible treatment he received from Mr Gahir, Mr Thomas and the amazing wider Maxillofacial Team at Royal Stoke who have been responsible for his treatment and care.
Cazzer's Story......
In June Cazzer underwent a major 17 hour operation to remove part of his jaw, the lining of his throat and cheek as well as the lymph nodes from his neck. His jaw was then reconstructed using bone and several skin grafts from his leg.
Not only have the Maxillofacial Team provided invaluable support to Cazzer but also to Nicole and Matilda during this incredibly difficult time. The Max Fax team have become part of the Ankers family!
Cazzer’s remarkable recovery from this life changing, life saving surgery is only the start of his journey. He now faces an intensive course of radiotherapy and chemo treatment and he will continue to be supported by the Maxillofacial team for at least another five years.
Thanks for reading Cazzer's story - I know times are hard at the moment for everyone, but if you are able to donate even the very smallest amount, this will help the Maxillofacial team to continue in their life saving work and support for other families.
Go team Cazzer!!
