As many of you will know I have worked on the Intensive Care Unit at King's College Hospital for more than 20 years. In that time I have seen our unit expand massively. We are now split into 2 units, but continue to work as one team. We manage to provide a wonderful service to both our local population as well as being a tertiary neurosurgical and trauma centre.
We have outgrown our present accommodation and King's College Hospital Charity is now committed to raising £4 million to equip a new purpose-built state of the art critical care unit. Funding for the fabric of the unit is already promised but we are wanting to purchase good quality facilities for our visiting families, patient-cooling equipment and many other extras which we believe are crucial to providing a top quality service. We are expanding from 32 to 48 beds, and this is the biggest critical care redevelopment project in the 100 year history of King's College Hospital.
To help raise money to purchase this equipment I am running the Dulwich 10K and the Great South (10 mile) Runs. Your generous donation will help us to achieve this.
