Story
OK, I've done it! Thank you all so much for sponsoring me. I've been quite overwhelmed with everyone's generosity. I did the run a couple of weeks ago with a time of about 1 hour 8 mins which wasn't too much slower than last year. I will admit that I walked the long uphill through Holyrood Park - perhaps next year I'll manage to run the whole thing. This page will stay open until September 4th, so you're not too late to sponsor me if you're feeling generous!
Last year I took part in the Great Edinburgh Run, my first 10k, and finished determined to run again this year, only faster. The trouble was I broke my ankle 2 weeks later, following a dive. Dratted boat ladders .
After a summer in plaster, I was ready for action once more when I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. Surgery followed and I've spent the winter going through chemotherapy. That's finished, I'm in remission, there's a quarter inch of fuzz on top of my head and I'm looking forward to, well, all sorts of things once more.
So I'm going to do the GER again this year on 04/05/2008 to raise money for Maggie's Centres and I would really welcome your support. I'll probably be twice as slow as last year but I'm sure any sponsorship from you lot will propel me round the course at breakneck pace. OK, perhaps not that fast, but it will certainly encourage me to finish the route on my own two legs.
I've chosen the Maggie's Centres as I've discovered what a friendly, welcoming and supportive place the Centre in Edinburgh is for anyone with cancer. So thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor me online.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Maggie's Centres will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
So please sponsor me now!
Many thanks for your support.
