Story

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page, I am raising as much money as possible for Act!onAid! A cause that helps the world's most vulnerable women and one that I care deeply about.

In September 2020, we were due to embark on an our amazing yet gruelling Charity Challenge trek from Cusco to Machu Picchu. But, the trip was moved to May 2022.

Our journey from Cusco to Machu Picchu will entail 4 days of hard trekking via the Ancascocha trail for apx 7 hours a day and at serious altitude. The highest point being 4500m! (Apx the equivalent to standing at the very tip of the Matterhorn!)

What Am I Doing To Raise Money?

Other than preparing for the tough trip ahead, I ran one mile a day every day for over 6 months in 2020. I planned to do this for a full year but a hip injury prohibited that from happening! 197 miles were run & I didn't missed a single day.

As of 1st of January 2022 I have given up alcohol for an entire year. Which, if you know me, is kind of a big deal. So why don't you donate the cost of a beer <3 it would mean the world.

Your Donations

The cost of my trip has already been gifted to me but as a permanent supporter of Act!onAid I am aiming to raise above and beyond to help women everywhere

Act!onAid have already been in touch to tell me that the money raised for the trip will:

  •  Help us provide coaching for 200 girls in Ghana to help them understand their rights and gain confidence to challenge harmful practices like female genital mutilation
  • Help us  train 45 women in The Gambia on poultry and feed production to improve their ability to earn an income
  • Help us  train 35 counsellor’s to provide comfort and psychosocial support to survivors of violence/girls who’ve suffered violence

Just think what more ££££ could achieve! You can find out more about the amazing work Act!onAid do here: https://www.actionaid.org.uk/about-us/what-we-do

Final Word

Whilst the trek itself is rather daunting, I am of course incredibly excited to take my first ever trip to South America and to tick off a bucket list item in the process - and with my partner in crime! We will both be working hard to prepare for the trek and raise as much money as possible for our chosen charities.

If you're still reading this, then thank you for your interest and hopefully, your support!

Charity Challenge

This will be my 3rd trip with Charity Challenge & from experience I know how hard, yet rewarding these trips are. Amenities are basic and accommodation during the trek is camping. The treks are long and hard but the payoff is worth it and it's all for an amazing cause.
