Story
I am running the Great Yarmouth Half Marathon on Sunday 11th August 2013 for my Mum.
My Mum (Margaret Burrell) was diagnosed with endometrial cancer on 16th July, which was totally unexpected and a shock to the family. She will be going into James Paget Hospital on 16th August for a hysterectomy to remove the cancer.
Mum's cancer is at stage 1a, which means it has been caught early, it is contained within the womb and has not spread, so she should hopefully not need any further treatment after surgery.
I lost my Dad on 30th October 2010, following an 11-month fight with bowel cancer. Finding out Mum had cancer, combined with the agonising wait for test results, brought back many painful memories for us all, especially for Mum, my sister Helen and myself.
