Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
This evening, my five year old daughter, Isabel, was refusing to finish her tea. I asked her to try and eat more because "there are children in this world who would love to have what you have." A line I'm sure many a mother has used to encourage their children to eat those "yucky" vegetables. She suddenly became very upset and told me that she felt very sad for those children. In an effort to console her I showed her some photos of the work the Human Relief Foundation have done to bring smiles to the faces of the 1.5 million children living in Syrian refugee camps. As she looked through the photos her face lit up and she asked if she could do something to help them, even suggesting she should use her birthday money to buy some toys for them.
The aim is to raise some money to buy some toys and other essentials for the members of The Human Relief Foundation to take over to Jordan with them on their upcoming visit in March. There are 3 million people in these camps and half of those are children. That makes 1.5 million children living in tents and missing out on an education and a normal life. My five year old finds this to be completely unacceptable and would very much appreciate any donations that would result in not only making her smile, but most importantly, these child refugees too.
We are looking to do some fun fundraising activities with Isabel at the helm. With a five year old calling the shots, things could get interesting .. her latest suggestion is that we should run a race together. So watch this space ... you may see me run yet!
