Story
Our Great Grandma survived domestic abuse in the 1920s. I never met her but she seemed like a real presence in my life because our mum passed on lots of wonderful stories and sayings from her. On Saturday I bumped into a friend who is fostering three children removed from an abusive home. A hundred years on I'm hoping Great Grandma would approve of the fund-raising.
This September, along with thousands of Refuge supporters, I will be challenging myself to Swim 2.4 miles, Run 26.6 miles and Bike 112 miles .... in short to complete an Ironwoman throughout the month.
Some of the amazing women have done the whole thing in a day... but it will take me the whole month. I'm confident I'll do the run and swim miles... but the bike will be a big, big challenge for me. By donating you'll be making a massive difference to the women and children Refuge supports on a daily basis... and you'll keep me motivated.... especially on the bike!
Raising just £10 could provide a woman arriving at a refuge with the support she needs for her first night. £52 could fund her and her children's stay. £185 could fund the running of the National Domestic Abuse Helpline for an hour.£500 could run one of our refuges for one day. Every £1 counts!
