Story
Medics against Violence is a small Scottish charity trying to do amazing things. We aim to tackle violence in Scotland in all its forms because we've all seen far too much of it. We work closely with the Scottish Violence Reduction Unit and other amazing partners because the one thing we are sure of it that we will only achieve good outcomes if we work together. We run MAV Schools, an education programme for young people and Ask Support Care, a domestic abuse training initiative.
We also help to run Navigator a hospital based support programme. Navigator supports people in very difficult circumstances away from lives where violence is often a feature. 15 Navigators work between the Emergency Department & the community across Scotland.
We're doing this challenge for the Navigator Running on Empty fund.
The 'Running on Empty' fund allows us to help some of the people we support whose circumstances are particularly challenging. Some need more support from us than others and sometimes they need a small amount of financial help them get there. This is where this fund comes in, it will allow us to do that little bit extra for people if they need it when other funds are not available. These may be people fleeing a violent household who have nothing but the clothes they stand up in, someone who is homeless who needs a decent meal, a young person who needs bus fares to get to job interviews or just someone who needs a long chat over a cup of coffee.
If you feel you can help by donating even a small amount we would be very grateful. Every penny including Gift Aid will go to the people we support.
