Story
As many of you know, each year I do the London Marathon, I didn't get a place this year - instead I just did a half-marathon.
This year I'm raising money for a charity that is very close to my heart - I've been volunteering with them for about five years.
They're called 3FF and they do inter-faith work. They do all sorts of amazing things to promote inter-faith dialogue and understanding. I volunteer as part of their school programme. Three or four times a year I visit schools in London with a facilitator and at least one other volunteer speaker and we talk about our beliefs and answer children's questions.
As most of you know, I'm an atheist, example questions I get are, "How do you explain how the world got here?" "What do you think happens when you die" "If you're a scientist does that mean you're a Scientologist?" Things like that.
We often visit religious schools and it's great for the pupils to have a chance to meet people with different beliefs and to learn more about them.
I truly believe that dividing people on the basis of religion is one of the most dangerous things we can do as a society - this charity tries to break down those barriers. That's why I'm very proud to have been one of their speakers all these years and why I'm very proud to have "run" this race and be raising money for them
Why have I put the word ran in quote marks you ask? Because I planned to be run/walking as usual because, as usual, I won't be doing any training.
If I can do 26 miles with no training at all, I can definitely do 13. Is this worth more of your money? Yeah, I think so! Cough up!
