Story
All change now the Manchester Half Marathon has been postponed until September! I, Tina, will run it in Manchester whenever it is safe to do so! However on May 24th I will run a half marathon distance locally around the Isle of Sheppey, in aid of the BHF and in dedication to my father who is still defying medical predictions and will be cheering me along from his sofa in Devizes! I am so proud to call this man my father so I run for him, for his determination, his courage and his continuously positive attitude! Love you Dad!
Tony, our father, was diagnosed in June 2015 with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma and has spent the last 4.5 years undergoing a variety of treatments including 22 rounds of Chemotherapy (4 CVP, 6 R-CHOP, 2 E-Shap, 6 R-Bendemustine, 4 Maintenace Rituximab, and 2 Trials - ) . Unfortunately the illness has now progressed so far that he is receiving pallative care for the symptoms. However Tony has remained positive, determined and very accepting of this hand that he has been dealt. He has put himself forward for a number of clinical trials and constantly wants to help others in finding treatments for this form of cancer.
None of our team are runners! Up until a few months ago running a 5km was daunting so signing up for a half marathon is something Tony would never expect of his 3 children. This is just a small way that we can show him how much we think of him and how much we love him.
We would love to raise as much money as possible to help the British Heart Foundation. Tony has supported the BHF for the last 10 years by shaking his tin, helping out at events and providing support to the Devizes branch of this charity. It is a mission close to his heart (pun intended) and we would love to help him in anyway we can, namely by running a half marathon with sponsorship going to this charity. Anything you can donate, big or small, will be very gratefully received!
Thanks for visiting my page. I'm raising money for the British Heart Foundation's research and I'd be so grateful for your support. The BHF has helped halve the number of people dying from heart and circulatory disease in the UK but sadly every day hundreds of people lose their lives. It's only thanks to support from people like us that the BHF can create new treatments and discover new cures. £24 could pay for two hours of research by an early career scientist, but every pound helps so please give what you can to help me hit my target. Thanks!
