Story
As many of you already know, Dave was diagnosed with Thyroid Cancer in July 2020. Finding out he had Cancer was devastating to us all. Then being told it had already spread into his chest area rocked our world. He went on to have major surgery in September to remove his thyroid and all the tumours, and November he had Radioactive Iodine Treatment. He is not out of the woods yet, we are waiting to hear what's next for him in terms of treatment etc. However, he is doing amazingly well and we are all so proud of him, and just glad that he is still here with us.
On July 17th 2021, Dave and I have signed up to partake in the Thames 13 mile Mighty Hike. Are we mad? Indeed we are. Are we trained and ready? Hell no! But we have decided to do this walk to raise money for the charity that has helped us through the most difficult time of our lives. MacMillan have helped us from the beginning of diagnosis, and continue to help and support us still today. Without MacMillan I dont know how we would have got through as easily. From helping us sort finances, talk to work, talk to our families, tell the children, council us both and help us with a small grant to help pay for us to have a new mattress to better support Dave's needs after his surgery. We can't thank them enough.
During our training and also on the hike itself, we will update you all on our progress. We will share the good, the bad and the ugly! But we will need everyone's support to get us through it. Its gonna be a rough ride, given that Dave is still unable to walk far without difficulty, and also my own fibromyalgia causing me widespread pain.
So please, if u can, help us to raise some money for this amazing charity. There is no given amount to pledge, every penny counts towards our goal of £500. Also, please please share this on all your social media platforms to aid in as many donations as possible.
Thankyou. Love Chris and Dave.
