Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

As some of you know I have been closely involved with Gaddesden Place RDA Centre since 2004 as a managing trustee and volunteer instructor so I know the difference we can make to our riders lives.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity. So it’s the most efficient way to donate – saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

Gaddesden Place RDA Centre was formed in 1974 and is a registered charity. It is solely dedicated to giving children and adults with disabilities and special needs the opportunity to ride and have fun.

RDA helps people to

  • Reach therapeutic goals
  • Achieve their personal ambitions
  • Combat social isolation
  • Develop life skills
  • Experience the outdoors
  • Connect with animals

Our riders range in age from 4 to 64. They come from local schools, residential care homes, day services and as individuals. All our volunteer instructors are qualified to national standards for therapeutic riding. Our goal is to make a positive difference in our riders lives.

Our Riding Centre with indoor school, kitchen and viewing gallery is located on the Gaddesden Estate, north of Hemel Hempstead and adjacent to the Ashridge Estate. We are open Tuesday to Saturday providing over 100 rides per week. We have three members of staff but all the rest of the work is carried out by an amazing team of nearly 100 volunteers. We receive no regular government funding. We charge a modest fee for riding but that is only a fraction of the cost of maintaining our team of ponies and our riding centre.

I see close up the value of the work we do and over the years have seen many riders amaze themselves and their families with what they can achieve.

This is our third Sponsored Dog Walk and your support will enable us to continue to provide a valuable service to our riders.

Many thanks for reading to the end-your interest is much appreciated!
