Story
My son was diagnosed with Bladder cancer in September 2011. Christies then sent us to America for Proton therapy where he became critically ill with septaecaemia blood poisioning. As a result of this serious illness Lucas lost most of his fingertips and also lost the tips of his toes on his left foot and he has lost half of his right foot . He battled through and now seeing him walk makes me feel very proud. Christies plan to open their first proton therapy unit in a few years. This technology helped lucas beat his cancer without all the gruelling effects of conventional x ray radiotherapy. Each machine costs around 70 million pounds but i think every english child who needs this treatment should not have to travel all that distance whilst un well, they should be able to do this in familiar surroundings with all the support of thier family members. That is why we need to raise the money to invest in all the new medicines and technology so that we can give our children the best care and chances of survival. Thank You.
