Story
Every 10 minutes somewhere in the world a child, teenager or adult is diagnosed with Bone Cancer and this brutal disease is one that has impacted our family hugely over the past few years.
In November 2020 our incredible nephew Ryan, was diagnosed with osteosarcoma (bone cancer of the Tibia), nine months of intense chemotherapy then followed, during which time Ryan underwent an above the knee amputation and had to learn to walk again. He then received another blow in September 2022, when he was told the cancer had returned, this time on his lungs. Another 7 months of intense chemotherapy followed, and in July 2023 Ryan was told the chemo had been a success and there had been no new growth 💪🏻✨
There are no words that do full justice to all the emotions you feel watching a loved one battle this horrible disease. But Ryan's bravery, positivity and determination has inspired us all, more than he'll ever realise.
The Bone Cancer Research Trust is the only charity dedicated to this awful disease. A small but national charity based in Leeds, they fund ground-breaking research, life-saving awareness initiatives and provide dedicated & invaluable information and support to patients and their loved ones... all without any government funding.
By running London's 2024 Marathon, I want to raise awareness of BCRT and also of this horrible illness which so often gets misdiagnosed in the early stages.
Thank you so much in advance for your donations - they'll certainly spur me on throughout my training and on the big day.
Finally, a message for you Ryan - you are Seren & Florrie's real life superhero and we all love you so very much x
