Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page in memory of an amazing young lady, Kimberley Rossall.
Kim was an inspiration to all who met her and was a big part of my niece Victoria's life. They went through so much together and spent a lot of time in the Young Oncology Unit (YOU) @ Christie's. By taking part in this event I feel this is my way of thanking the unit for everything they did for them both and ultimately allowing their paths to cross. The team at the unit offered friendship, support and a shoulder to lean on for both the patients and their families and do an amazing job.
My niece has now been clear 5 years but sadly Kim was not so fortunate and passed away in 2012. Kim was also a keen fundraiser for The Christie by taking part in zipwiring, fun runs and she even got to hold the Olympic flame! She appeared several times on Granada news and ITV's Can You Sing highlighting the work of the Teenage Cancer Trust's unit. Kim and I also had a common interest of butterflies so I guess this is the closest I am ever going to be to becoming one.....a very large one at that!
I am taking part in the skydive with my close friend Jennie who has a similar story of the YOU. The 'jump', or 'scare-dive; as Jennie calls it, is taking place shortly after the 3rd year anniversary of Kim's passing so feel it appropriate for me to do it in her honour.
We both feel this will not only be an experience of a lifetime but about enjoying, loving and living life to it's fullest. This ones for you Kim..mwah! xx
