Story
In Spring 2021 my Mum (Jenny) was diagnosed with stage 2 lobular breast cancer. The prognosis was that it was operable but would require intense treatment. The UK had just come out of lock down so it meant rules in hospitals were stringent and they wouldn't allow anyone to accompany and support her in many of her visits.
After 4 bouts of chemo, 2 rounds of surgery followed by radiotherapy, and endless visits to the hospital she was able to ring the bell in March 22 and was finally cancer free. Throughout the whole process I couldn't have been more proud of my Mum. She's the bravest and most optimistic person I know and she drew on all of this throughout.
My mum cant praise the treatment she received during this time any higher. She says the commitment from all the multi disciplinary team was amazing and she didn’t feel alone at any point.
My mother in law also battled and recovered from breast cancer. This was 20 years ago and there was less support for patients even this relatively short time ago. This really highlights the important work charities such as Breast Cancer Now do.
I'm running for Breast Cancer Now to help raise awareness and money for the fantastic care and support they offer 1000's of people in the UK every year. Please give generously if you can.
