Story
On Sunday November 6th, I’ll be running the New York City Marathon to raise money for the Children’s Hospital at Montefiore (CHAM).
Money raised by the Champion for CHAM marathon runners will benefit CHAM's Quality in Life Team (QUILT). This team of palliative care experts are trained to help families navigate medical decisions and offer support as they face the uncertainty of life-threatening and fatal illnesses. Additionally, QUILT provides supportive contact for those patients who are unable to have a family member present due to infection control issues. As the only pediatric hospital in the Bronx, CHAM provides services for over 200,000 patients on a yearly basis in one of America’s poorest urban communities.
I’m especially passionate about this as my sister Christy is the Lead Transplant Coordinator for Montefiore’s Heart Transplant Team. Her daily stories of lives saved and compassion of her colleagues channel the amazing work being done there every day.
Please consider donating!! Any amount will make a difference in the lives of children with complex and life threatening medical conditions.
