Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Working at the Port and far too frequently catching myself staring out of my office window across at France thinking "it doesn't look all that far...why not give it a go?", here we are.
In July, as part of a small band of brothers, I will swim the channel for Aspire. Aspire provides practical help to people who have been paralysed by spinal cord injury, supporting them from injury to independence. Every four hours someone is paralysed by a spinal chord injury and Aspire provides the essential equipment, advice and housing that people need to get back to living an independent life.
"As a relay?!" I have been challenged...To put the Channel Swim into context, more people have climbed Everest (6,000+) than swam the English Channel (1,827 solo swims and 951 relays).
That said, being (unhealthily) competitive, and one to rise to every attempt at being goaded, please watch this space as to how we are making this already really challenging event even more so!
As a minimum, I will be swimming multiple hour long legs until we make it to the beaches of France in our Budgie Smugglers. No wetsuits allowed.
