Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I was diagnosed with bowel cancer in March 2011 at the age of 32. As a young father of two small girls (one aged two and the youngest aged 4 months at the time) this news seemed impossible to bear. Shortly after my diagnosis, I underwent the surgery to remove the tumour which was followed by 6 months of chemotherapy. Unfortunately, after the chemo it was found that the cancer had spread to both lungs. This was a huge shock and knocked me for six but luckily Maggie's were there to help me come to terms with the prognosis. Incredibly, two weeks later a cardiothoracic surgeon took a look at my scans and said she could operate to attempt to remove all the tumours. This didn't promise a cure but it will definitly buy me more quality time!
I had two thoracotomies at the beginning of 2012, have gone from strength to strength since and have to date, had two clear scans. I'm a long way from being in the clear and that hammers home the importance of making the most of my time, particularly with my two girls. I also want to ensure I make the best use of my current good health to give something back. Maggie's have been a tremendous help to me on this journey so I would like to return that kindness by raising money through cycling from Land's End to John O'Groats via London and the RideLondon100. This will total approximately 1300 miles and I will try to complete it in 14 days, including a day for the RideLondon event.
Any donations will be very much appreciated and if anyone would like to join me for a leg of the journey please get in touch. Each leg will be in the region of 100 miles (some more, some less) depending on the terrain.
