Story
We are taking on the Walkie Talkie Tower Climb on Saturday the 04th March 2023.
Why are we doing this?
Now I'm going to try and keep this short………..
At the start of October 2022 our dear friends Adam and Naomi Tuckwell received the most devastating, life changing news. Their beautiful daughter Orla, not even two years old at the time, was diagnosed with a brain tumour.
Orla has since undergone 8 1/2 hours of surgery at Great Ormond Street to remove as much of the tumour as possible. Thankfully the operation was as successful with the surgeons confident that all of the tumour had been removed.
But this is just where the battle for little Orla and her family began.
It was initially hoped that the tumour the surgeons had successfully removed was benign. Sadly this was not the case. The tumour was identified as a Medulloblastoma. A nasty rare and aggressive variant as well.
For Orla to be free of this awful disease she faces months of gruelling chemotherapy which will see her taken to her lowest point both physically and emotionally. This will also be the cruellest test of her families resolve. A test they will pass due to their love and devotion to one another. This battle will be aided and supported in no small part by the care and devotion of the staff at Great Ormond Street Hospital.
Personally I had no idea, or experience, of just how special the staff at Great Ormond Street Hospital really are. The support and dedication these people show every day is simply phenomenal. Its for this reason my friends and I have felt compelled to complete this challenge in support of Great Ormond Street.
This is where you come in……………
We’ve all seen and heard the adverts and stories on TV and radio and said to ourselves that we must donate. Then life gets in the way and we forget to. Well thankfully my friends and I are going to make it easy for you to donate by sending you this link. Make yourself feel good and donate whatever you can. No matter how small.
By donating, you'll be helping to fund state-of-the-art medical technology; pioneering research programmes into treatments and cures for rare conditions; patient, family and staff support services; and the creation of new child-focused environments that help children feel safe and calm during their appointments, treatments and recovery.
