Story
The Mouth Cancer Foundation is a charity dedicated to helping and supporting those suffering from or at risk of mouth cancer, throat cancer and other head and neck cancers, as well as providing assistance and information on living with mouth cancer for families, friends and carers. Help raise awareness by fundraising or join in the charity's annual fundraiser, the Mouth Cancer 10 KM Awareness Walk.
Informing people of the signs, symptoms, risk factors, facts and figures and key causes of mouth cancer is extremely important and something which the charity is very passionate about.
There are over 8700 new cases of mouth cancer in the UK every year. 2722 lives lost each year. The disease effects 650,000 people worldwide per year.
Christchurch is taking part in Mouth Cancer Action Month. The charity is encouraging as many people as possible to walk 10km between Friday 1st October and Tuesday 30th November. This is the 16th year that they have run this challenge to increase awareness of all head and neck cancers. Something that we check for at every dental examination you attend.
It is an opportunity to celebrate survivorship and raise funds to continue to support patients, carers and survivors coping with mouth cancer.
Because this is a charity close to us, we as a team are aiming to collectively walk 1000km between us throughout this period.
We will post regular updates on our social media with our progress
Please donate to this great cause and show your support to our collective team 1000km!
You can also support the charity's self examination campaign or order a copy of the Easy to Swallow Cookbook.
