Story
As some of your will remember three years ago (Prior to COVID) I cycled the Carcasonne to Barcelona ride for Macmillan and Cancer Research and I raised over £6000 for these charities. We cycled over 435 km and climbed about 33,000 feet across France, Andorra and Spain through the beautiful Pyrenees. When we got to Barcelona, some of you will remember I said 'Never Again' !!
Well ..... that plan broke down .... and I've signed on with a great team of colleagues at Pure Storage EMEA to join forces in Venice on September 17th to prepare for 5 days of intense cycling through Italy.
Don't think I haven't thought long and hard about this, as the distance is pretty extreme for me, but my Doctor and Oncologist are happy for me to go ahead. I'm coping well with my daily immunatheraphy drugs, I'm fit and believe I can make it, and if I train through the spring and summer I'm sure I will ! I feel my predicament is nothing compared to the issues people in these countries are facing daily. So raising any funds for UNICEF to help those suffering in the terrible warzones in the Ukraine, or the devastation of the earthquake in Turkey, is worth every effort.
The journey will start in Venice and we head 630 km to Rome.
Day1 - 172k m / Day2 -156 km / Day3 -143 km
Day4 - 88km / Day5 - 70km
I would greatly appreciate it if you would consider donating via my funding page, all money raised will go directly to UNICEF.
With many thanks for your support....
Chris
