Story
As many of you know I have worked in Challenge Events and in and around the London Marathon for well over a decade. In that time I have said "I will do it next year!" after each of them. Well the time has finally come to see if I can do what feels like the impossible and drag myself around the 26.2 miles of the worlds largest marathon.
What some of you will not know, is that in 2013 I lost one of my best friends Ricki Savage. Ricki collapsed and died at the finish line of the Dublin Marathon. It was a complete shock to use all as Ricki was one of the fittest and healthiest people I knew. Over the years we have raised a lot of money in his memory but this year I am attempting to do something Ricki would take great pleasure in seeing me struggle with. Please sponsor me for the amazing cause that is Cardiac Risk in the Young and to acknowledge the almost impossible feet of watching Chris Perrin attempt to "run" a marathon".
Every week in the UK at least 12 apparently fit and healthy young people die of undiagnosed cardiac conditions. With your donation, CRY can reduce the frequency of young sudden cardiac death (YSCD) by working with cardiologists and family doctors to establish good practice and appropriate screening facilities to promote and protect the cardiac health of our young.
