Story
On 23rd April 2023 I shall be running the London Marathon.
Three years later than originally planned due to Covid, but better late than never!
I am running in memory of my Mother (Elizabeth).
She died suddenly on 26th April 2016 after living with myotonic dystrophy for a long time. She was a brave woman with a lovely mischievous streak. She was known affectionately as Mama Jo to my children whom she loved dearly. She brought me into this world and on April 23rd 2023, almost 7 years to the day of her passing, I shall run in gratitude of that. Thank you.
I am running in support of the St John Ambulance charity.
On the night of my mother’s heart attack it was a neighbour, Ann Lewin, a volunteer for SJA, who responded to the call from the emergency services and came to my Dad’s assistance. I am very grateful for that.
I am also very grateful to be running the London Marathon with a good friend David Missen who is also running in support of St John Ambulance. You can read David’s story here:
