Story

As part of the St Helens Gala, The Steve Prescott Foundation have teamed up with Extreme Sensations, Handepay and Santander to bring an exhilarating 200ft Bungee Jump to Ruskin Sports Village on Sunday 27th August. One hundred places are available for thrill seekers who are brave enough to take on this challenge in the true spirit of the great man Steve Prescott MBE. To represent Steve and SPF Charity we are delighted to announce the first person to put up their hand up to take on the Bungee Jump is, SPF Charity Ambassador, the totally inspirational and slightly insane Jimmy Gittins! Jimmy Gittins is an ex rugby league player, who in 2002, suffered a horrific injury breaking his neck in 2 places, putting an end to his playing career and changing his life forever. He has spent the years since his injury pushing his body to new limits, he walked out of hospital after 9 hard painful months and has since taken on one challenge after another that most people wouldn’t even think they could attempt. Jimmy does all this with a smile on his face. His positive attitude to life and to his own limitations can’t help but rub off on those he meets. Jimmy said “I am truly honoured to represent the great man when attempting this Bungee Jump! It is 10 years since we said goodbye to Steve and I wanted to do something in his memory to raise vital funds for the SPF. The SPF have always been there to support me on my challenges and I cannot think of a better way to support them…..honest!!! I am sure many more people will join me and enjoy the thrill of the Bungee Jump!” Martin Blondel said “Steve would be absolutely elated to have Jimmy opening up the Bungee Jump Challenge. Jimmy is an extraordinary human being who spends his life inspiring people to overcome adversity. Steve and Jimmy have the same outlook on life and are selfless people!” Extreme Sensations have a highly trained Crew who are adept in making each and every Bungee Jump safe, thrilling and a lot of fun. The Bungee used will be a 200ft Bungee, guaranteed to give you an adrenalin rush second to none.
