Story
In May 2020 during the 1st Lockdown my Nan - Nana Mu passed away due to complications from a stroke.
I had always intended to run a Half Marathon in 2020 and was building up my running again and would run the 11km from my flat to Nan's flat as training, even carrying shopping me and Cat had done for her in my backpack to make it that bit more difficult. I would always arrive to Nan standing at the door smiling at me looking like I was daft, she would even tell me so as I was disinfecting her shopping to pass to her. She would also say "how am I going to repay you for this?". I like to think that statement is about more than the shopping, but she was my amazing Nan and I will never stop repaying her for that.
The last training run I did to Nan's on her 82nd birthday ended in heartbreak.
In the end it is the amazing paramedics who took care of everything with unbelievable calmness and were operating in an even more high risk environment due to the pandemic who need repaying.
It's the medical team at Northern General hospital who sang happy birthday to Nan when she was received in A&E and in the height of Lockdown 1 allowed our family to travel up so we could all have what would be our last chance to speak to her who need repaying.
So I'd ask you to join me in giving a bit to support the Sheffield Hospitals Charity so that anyone in need has the same incredible support from the NHS that my Nan had.
Thankyou NHS.
