Story
Thanks for your support with my London Marathon JustGiving Challenge! My page donations will be sent direct to the charity in a fast and secure way. Its efficient, saves time and cuts costs for the charity. Let's do this!
I originally signed up to run for the British Dyslexia Association (BDA) in January 2020, by the time I get to run the streets of London, I will
have trained 4 TIMES !!!
My marathon journey for the BDA started in January 2020 after securing a marathon place. 2 months of long runs was followed by the Covid lockdown and then the date of the marathon was moved. A virtual event was scheduled and so 6 months of training began (again). It was a long hot summer which meant training was hard in 25-degree heat. The marathon was completed and the usual comment of “Never again!” may have been uttered.
I still had a place to run on behalf of the BDA, having been offered to defer my place I opted for 2022 as Covid was still rife at the end of 2020. I applied and gained a place to run the virtual marathon in October 2021. The Summer of 2021 was also a long hot summer with
training being interspersed with a few niggly Achilles issues, however on the day it was perfect conditions and with some support from my buddies in the local running club (Runnymede Runners), I completed the marathon in 4 hours 53 minutes.
So, 2022 is the year I finally get to run the mass London Marathon after training 4 times I am planning to start the training in June, and doing myself and the BDA proud. I know it will be tough but with the support of family and friends, it will be one of the greatest achievements of my life, I’m not getting younger and after being diagnosed with cancer in 2019, I really am getting too old to be running marathons.
If anyone wants to donate to such a great cause, please see my fundraising page

I wanted to run the London Marathon, which made me think that there are charities and associations out there that are not as high profile but who do such vital work and who would, I’m sure, benefit from any input someone could give. One that caught my eye was the British Dyslexia Association (BDA); who offer dyslexia information, advice and services. With over 10% of the British population experiencing various levels of dyslexia, it resonated more so as my nephew also suffers from Dyslexia and, as in my recent experience, may have similar questions about hopes and dreams for the future and what does it hold.
Thank you for reading this and if you feel that you could help me support the BDA, any donation, however small (or large!) would be greatly appreciated by myself and I am sure by the BDA. Thank you.
Chris
